The Resolution for Circuit Realignment will come to voting delegates for approval on March 11.
A resolution from the district Board of Directors to bring the district into alignment with Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod requirements will come before voting delegates on Saturday morning, March 11, in the chapel at Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Illinois. The Synod requires that member congregations be organized into geographic circuits of between 7 and 20 congregations each with a minimum of 1,500 and not more than 10,000 confirmed members each. The district organizes its circuits into four geographic regions for the purpose of ensuring representation from throughout the area on the district's Board of Directors and for its vice presidents.
This special convention of the LCMS Northern Illinois District will consider the single issue of new configuration of circuits and the regions to which they are assigned. The circuit realignment will take effect June 1, 2018, but action is necessary now to allow for appropriate nomination (which takes place during 2017) to district offices elected in March 2018.
Voting delegates at the Special Convention will be the certified delegates who attended the 2015 NID Regular Convention as well as allowable changes that have been pre-certified by the district secretary for this event. Everyone is welcome to attend the convention.
Included here are the materials needed for the March 11, 2017, NID special convention. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and the opening devotion begins at 9:30 a.m. The convention is expected to conclude no later than noon. Coffee will be served upon arrival, but no lunch is provided.
Any questions related to the convention should be directed via email to Ronda Wilmot in the district president's office or by calling 708-223-3101 or toll-free at 708-888-LCMS(5267), ext. 3101.
