Mission in Belize

Why Belize?

Why now?

God is bestowing blessings upon blessing to all of the people of Belize. Most recently, the dedication of Mercy House was held with Rev Michael Brown of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Barrington IL, leading the service with participation from Rev Braun Campbell of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere IL.

For the past several years, the LCMS Northern Illinois District’s (NID) “Hearts for Jesus “campaign has included fundraising for the Mercy house, feeding programs, and scholarships through the Belize Mission Society. And at our 2022 District convention, Witness Resolution 3-2 was approved adopting Belize as the Northern Illinois District’s international mission focus.

Are you being nudged to join a short-term mission team? Is the Belize Mission Society a fit for you?

The one thing everything we do will serve is “keeping the main thing the main thing”, faithfully serving the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing it in our community and the world. If we are truly seeking to Advancing His Kingdom and uphold our pillars of Word, Wellness and Witness, Belize provides us with that mission field!

The NID recognizes that some congregations and schools in our District simply do not have the resources or contacts to support international short term missions. In support of our our Witness resolution, we have brought together resources so that our ministry partners and individuals may serve in international short term missions.

In connection with the NID’s SHINE! initiative in April 2023, resources for a short term mission in Belize are being planned for April 24, 2023 through May 1, 2023. Anyone who would like to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus may do so. Sand, stain & care for Christ Lutheran Church! Medical professionals and teachers and also invited! Rev. Kris Whitby, Assistant to the President Mission and Ministry LCMS Northern Illinois District, and Cathy Dulgar, Executive Director, Belize Mission Society invite you to serve in Belize.

Northern Illinois District congregations, schools, RSOs, and other ministry partners are encouraged to share this opportunity for mission work and join us in Advancing His Kingdom for an international focus. Please share this flyer with your community and encourage participation in our mission work in Belize.
